In ancient times, in Israel, they would have what is referred to as a Jubilee year. It was the year after seven, sets of seven years. The seventh day to the Israelites was a Holy day, their Sabbath, in which no labor was performed. In a like manner, they would have a sabbatical year every seventh year in the which all the fields were left fallow. After 7 of these sabbatical years, or after 49 years, they would have a Jubilee year in which all land was returned to its original owners or their heirs and all slaves were set free.
So in light of the financial problems that we are facing in America currently, I am declaring this an American Jubilee Year...which in our case means...all debts will be forgiven starting now. Therefore, everyone now owns their homes free and clear, all credit card and bank debts are forgiven, companies no longer have to pay back any of their debts, car debts are gone, government debt is gone, school loans are gone...we are all starting at zero with what ever possessions we have.
To some who had many debts, this will seem wonderful, to others who had few debts, this will seem unfair. I want all of us to look at this from the perspective that even if you don't benefit from it as much as someone else, you still probably benefit from it somewhat, and if you don't, it will still benefit you because it benefits the whole. I also ask all those who gain much by this Jubilee to please look around you and try to find some whose lives you might bless through your consequential kindness.
From today forward, lets all steer clear of debt as much as possible. We should be trying to practice delayed gratification, and save for most things before hand, and then buy them only when we have saved the needed money to be able to purchase them outright. There will still be some need for borrowing for large expenses but lets try and keep our debt minimal and manageable.

The Most Basic Unit of Society
As I hear of all the turmoil in the world, whether it be financial markets, lack of health care, lack of human dignity, wars, politics, or simple disagreements among people...I typically hear people asking, "Why doesn't the government fix this?" There are many different contributing units in society such as government, business, and religion among others. But none of these will ever give us what we need to fix the problems of society. In order to fix society, we need to fix the most basic element or unit of that society, which is the family. A strong family unit is the most basic unit of society, without which, no other unit of society be it government, business, or religion, can flourish.
To that end I am issuing this new mandate: Here to fore, the people of America will be limited to a work week consisting of five, six hour days. This will provide two hours more each day for families to interact with one another. It will lessen the income of everyone so there will be less to spend, but again, that will give us the opportunity to get back to some of the family activities where we are actually interacting, bonding, and enjoying one another's company. This should also foster an improvement in priorities and help us all remember what is really most important in life. Hopefully more basic morals and values can be instilled in us as a people. Families will be stregnthened, which will stregnthen individuals, which will give us better leaders in government, business, and religion, and thus our society will be stregnthened.
As a side benefit, more job positions will be made available to complete the tasks that would have been accomplished in the work hours we will be losing. This drop in unemployment will again allow for more families to provide for themselves and become stronger family units.
Happy familying,
The King

An end to the storm...Soothing the Middle East
Founded by the Turks, the Ottoman Empire was the dominant power in the Middle East for centuries. Its power peaked in the 16th and 17th centuries but it wasn't cut up until after World War I, where it had fought with the losing side. At that time, the Ottoman Empire wasn't cut up geographically, or religiously, or politically. It was drawn up by Britain and France, the victors of the war. The resulting nations of Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Palestine, Turkey, and Syria were a fight waiting to happen. Britain and France had purposely built instability into the region to keep their enemies week…A good move to keep themselves in powerful positions, but not a good move for world peace.
One example of such built in failure is Kurdistan...a country that doesn't exist...but should. It comprises an area shared by Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Syria.
This area where the Kurds live has its own language, related to but distinct from Persian (Farsi). They have a different monetary system, their own army, and more or less their own governmental structure. Most Kurds are Sunni Muslims, although Iran's are more likely to be Shi'ite. They follow a less strict form of Islam as the women don't wear the traditional clothing.
At several times they have tried to form their own country. From 1922 to 1924 there was a Kingdom of Kurdistan in Iraq but it was crushed by British and Iraqi forces. Another country with the same name lasted only two months in Turkey. One other attempt in Turkey lasted four years. The U.S.S.R. helped establish a Kurdish state in Northern Iran to destabilize Iran but then pulled out and left them to be massacred by the Iranians. The U.S. then tried the same thing in Iraq, causing a Kurdish uprising then leaving. Saddam Hussein who was at the time running Iraq, went and smothered the rebellion eventually killing as many as 200,000 Kurds...as would have any leader of any country. Then, after not giving the Kurds support in the uprising the U.S. incited, the U.S. declares Saddam Hussein as committing genocide and starts a War on Terror (War on Saddam's Iraq). I'm not trying to say that one side was right or wrong, I'm just saying the whole thing was a bad situation that could have been avoided through a simple restructuring of badly placed boundaries. Of course the Kurds want to rule themselves...and of course the Leaders of the several countries want to put down rebellions and stabilize their countries.
Today we will be meeting with Britain, France, Russia, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria, and most importantly the Kurds, to clear up this problem area. We will not close this meeting until we have found a feasible way to make Kurdistan a reality, creating a more peaceful Middle East, and a more peaceful world.
Love to all,
Your companion,
The King

The New North America, Strong and United

What I am putting in action today may seem similarly crazy to many, but as with Alaska, I think it will seem ingenious in years to come. It will create a stronger and healthier United States of America and a stronger and healthier Mexico. Today we will be purchasing the top 7 states from Mexico for $1.75 trillion. Total area roughly 870,268 square km., (334,828 square miles). Total population roughly 19,500,000. They are the states of Baja California Norte, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas. This will decrease the number of potential illegal aliens by making 19 million of them American citizens and by pumping that much money

Join me in welcoming our newest fellow Americans!

Communication is the Key
First I will start by stressing the fact that languages, like cultures, are living, growing, changing, adapting organisms. Many times I have heard people worried about protecting their culture, saving a dieing language, or keeping a language pure. That is like trying to put you or I out in society and expect us not to grow, change, or adapt. Of course we all do, as do our languages. None of the existing languages are the same as they were 300 years ago. Times, people, and situations change, and thus so do their languages. A language changing, can be a good, even great thing, for the people who use it.
As a result, I will be meeting with all the Leaders of both the Spanish speaking and the English speaking countries. We will each bring an accomplished linguist to the Spanish/English Communication Summit. We will be putting together a list of 10 English words that the spanish countries will adopt and 10 Spanish words that the english countries will adopt. Thus making the two languages 20 words more compatible. We will continue to do this once every two years for the next ten years, at which point we will have 100 more words in common between spanish and english.
This is going to help us communicate better and be better able to help one another and work together. We will each grow stronger individually, and collectively.
Be compassionate, and happy.
Your devoted King

All for One, and One for All
Today I am mandating that America switch to the metric system. This will have some opportunity costs upfront because there will need to be some changing of text books, label printing, tooling for machines, and the difficulty of retraining a whole culture, etc. But in the end it will save a lot because you can buy just one set of tools, you only have to print one quantity on labels, and most importantly, we will be able to translate and communicate much more freely with the rest of the world (when we travel outside America, we will actually know how much gas we are putting in our car, and how fast we are supposed to be driving). I believe that as a nation we could be through the learning curve and comfortable with the metric system in five years or less. With it being taught in schools, everyone 25 and younger will pick it up quickly. When I was in fourth grade they told us this was going to happen back then...and as kids we were terrified. It seemed so confusing. As I look back, I wish we had switched then. This will really help us in working together and getting along with our human family. Compatibility and communication are so vital in relationships, and I feel this will really help both our compatibility and communication with the world and even with each other. After all, metric really does make a whole lot more sense.

To the Brotherhood of Mankind
As the newly appointed King of America, my goal is to improve human life and welfare on earth. I will update this blog when necessary to inform the public of new mandates that I will be pushing forward. As King of America, I am open to any suggestions that people feel would improve life at home or abroad. I want to improve life for Americans as well as our relationships with other countries. When I die, I hope to be remembered as a humanitarian and philanthropist, not just your King.
Thank you for your support.
Your loving King
